Hello everyone and apologies for my silence. I hope you've all had a fabulous festive season filled with lots of delicious food. Mine was, and i promise to share the recipes for some of the dishes created and eaten over the Christmas period.
As for most people, the past few weeks have been super busy, with trips away for work to some lovely island locations, brief periods at home which seemed to be largely filled with picking lots of berry fruit (gooseberries, strawberries, raspberries and red currants have all been picked, and the blackcurrants are "currantly" awaiting my attentions. Spoiler alert - expect a few berry-fruit recipes over the coming weeks), and then family visiting seems to have consumed all my time. I know you are probably not supposed to make excuses for lack of posts in a blog, but there you go, that's my excuse.
Here's one of the lovely locals i met on Maud Island in Pelorus Sound - but don't worry, i'm not going to start with the extreme survival recipes that involve making use of native endangered insects. There might be a few more sweet recipes in the coming year than you've been accustomed to, as not only do i have a glut of berries in my freezer, but the plums, nectarines and peaches are yet to come ripe, and there are LOTS of fruit on the plum and nectarine trees in particular.
I'll try and get another recipe up before the end of December, as have been running somewhat behind this month (hence the excuses), but it will probably be RIGHT at the end of December, since i am away (work again) from tomorrow, returning on the 31st.
So, enjoy any days off you may have, make use of some of the yummy recipes already posted, and wait in happy anticipation for the culinary delights ahead!
